Community Service
Warwick Academy has a strong history of supporting charities and raising money for the local community as well as for national and international causes. In recent years, fundraising events have taken the form of fun run’s, gala drama evenings, the Warwick Academy golf tournament, music concerts, bake sales, the Bermuda Butterfield golf competition and numerous events supported by the Warwick Academy Parent Teacher Association.
Our students volunteer at Bermuda Aquarium Museum and Zoo, Bermuda Underwater Exploration Institute, Kaleidoscope, WindReach, Tomorrow's Voices. The Student Council organises a Relay for Life Team each year, participate in the End to End, the Breast Cancer Walk, Christ Church Saturday breakfasts, Salvation Army, Keep Bermuda Beautiful, mentoring younger students, coaching primary students in several sports, and more.
The Secondary Student Council chooses a local charity each year to support which a percentage of all funds raised go to that charity. Each year the charity changes.
All students are expected to complete the following volunteer hours:
- Year 7 - 10 hours
- Year 8 & Year 9 - 15 hours
- Year 10 & Year 11 - 25 hours
Students also participate in community service through Duke of Edinburgh and Global Citizenship.
In addition, students are also members of the Leo Club and all of our Year 6 students visit and develop friendships with the students from the Dame Marjorie Bean Hope Academy, which is a school for children with special needs.
CAS is a combination of Creativity, Activity and Service.
The student requirement are they must complete a minimum of 20 hours in each, but 150 total over the two years in IB.
